The NYC Extended Certification Program is a unique opportunity offered by NYC Public Schools. This program enables qualified, current NYCPS or CBO teachers to pursue a bilingual extension or an additional SwD certification through the completion of fully subsidized graduate-level coursework.
Participating teachers will train in their current school during the day and complete virtual graduate coursework in the evenings, working toward their extension or additional certificate in one year.
After completing their certification program, participants commit to teaching in their new certification area for the following two years. By earning one of these additional licenses, teachers can increase their professional flexibility, while also gaining the skills and training to serve some of their highest-need students more effectively.
